SIA Qualification for CCTV Operators

The Level 2 Award in CCTV (Public Space Surveillance PSS) Operations has been developed to meet the training and licensing requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).  Under legislation any person who is employed on a contract basis and operates CCTV equipment within a public space environment to provide real time security surveillance, must obtain an SIA licence. One of the criteria for licensing is the achievement of a level 2 qualification.

This qualification is knowledge and skills based, and covers:
• Roles and responsibilities of CCTV PSS Operators
• Codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines
• CCTV equipment and its operation
• Control Room communication, and access control
• Legislation
• Dealing with incidents
• Surveillance techniques
• Fire and emergency procedures
• Health and Safety
